Introduction to Revelation

  Printable Version Chapter Study Review

What is Revelation about? How can we understand it? There are so many different thoughts about this book, how can we know what is right and what is wrong? Is it really important to understand it? These are a sampling of many questions that have been asked concerning the study of eschatology, and of the book of Revelation in particular.

The first, and most important, answer is to realize that this is a revelation (or unveiling) of Jesus Christ. So, yes, it is very important that we understand what God has revealed concerning His Son in this book. And, yes, we can trust God to reveal these things to us by His Spirit (I Corinthians 2:10). This is not to say that we will ever, this side of heaven, be able to understand all that the scriptures are saying about Jesus, but what an exciting journey it is to sincerely and prayerfully delve into the Word of God and let Him reveal His Word to us, “precept upon precept, line upon line” (Isaiah 28:10).

A study of Revelation of necessity requires some understanding of different parts of the Old Testament. Understanding the book of Daniel is especially important for the study of eschatology. Therefore, these notes on Revelation have many references to numerous Old Testament scriptures, and they will be followed by providing a series of notes on Daniel in the near future. If you are interested in an in-depth study, we can provide a correspondence course for you to answer questions, send to us, and we will go over them and send back to you. After studying the Word of God for many years, we feel we have only begun to scratch the surface of what God has for us. However, it is our prayer that as you enter this study of the Revelation of Jesus Christ that you will become more enthralled than ever before with the mighty love, power, mercy and grace of Jesus.

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein; for the time is at hand. Rev. 1:3
