Eschatology

The importance of a study of eschatology, which is defined as "the doctrine of the last or final things", cannot be over-emphasized.  False teachings abound on this subject, as the church has largely rejected a literal interpretation of most of the prophecies of the Bible.  John Walvoord has written in his book, Every Prophecy of the Bible, that there are over one-thousand significant prophecies in the Bible, half of which have already been fulfilled.  Studying how they were fulfilled, gives understanding of how others will be.
One of the first things to realize is if a portion of scripture makes sense to take it literally, then we can know it means what it says.  God desires that we understand His Word.  It is not left to be determined by any man's imagination or guess as to what it means.  However, God does use figurative language at times.  This is obvious when the literal rendering doesn't make sense.  Then we compare scripture with scripture to determine the meaning.
It is our desire to present lessons that will enable you to understand what the Bible teaches about future happenings, the main one of which is the soon coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Revelation 19:10 states, "The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."  How important, then to give ourselves to a study of prophecy and thus learn more of Jesus!
