We invite you to join us as we embark on a study of the book of Daniel. Daniel is really an awesome book! It records the course of history of many nations from Daniel’s time until the time of the end. Because of the detailed accuracy of the many prophecies of this book, it has come under much criticism and accusations of forgery by liberal critics and skeptics. However, Jesus’ reference to “Daniel, the prophet, in Matthew 24:15, should put to rest any doubt concerning the authenticity of the book of Daniel. To reject the divine inspiration of this book is to deny the omniscience of God and the fact that is recorded in 2 Timothy, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable…”
Understanding Daniel is an important key to understanding all other prophetic scriptures. His prophecies concern the “Times of the Gentiles.” Daniel lived before and during the captivity of the kingdom of Judah. He was taken as a captive to Babylon when Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem. A study of this book is essential to understanding the structure of prophecy in both the Old and New Testaments. Therefore, as we proceed in this study, let us prayerfully seek the Lord for revelation from the Holy Spirit.
